For the third of our mini interviews with the artists from the EP Friends Vol4 release that hit the shelves on the 5th September, we catch up with Malcon Capitine...  a.k.a. MalcoHol!!

Please introduce yourself...

My name is Malcon Capitine a.k.a MalcoHol, I'm a DJ/Producer from Maputo/Mozambique. Music has been my love ever since I was really young and I started producing in 2011 and DJing in 2014 same time I took house music more seriously.

I'm inspired and influenced mostly by every good music that catches my attention, to me every good artist (musician in this case) is a really big influence and inspiration to me and my music.

My producing style is mostly dark, deep and groovy, witch I apply them on Bass Music (Deep House/Bass House).

Describe your release on Friends Vol.4 in 5 words...

In 5 words I describe my release as Dark, Groovy, Catchy, Genuine and Awesome.

What else do you have coming up, that we should look out for (DJ gigs or new releases)?

19/08 I'm releasing a Collab EP called MalcoHol VS Michel Mess, with Michel Mess, a good producing partner & friend and 12/09 I'll be releasing a deep house with the title "Don't Know " in a South African label called Immoral Music.

Finally, if you had been selected for the Olympics, in which sport would you like to have performed?

If I'd been selected for the Olympics I would've liked to perform Judo.

EP Friends Vol4... Introducing Lennart Richter!

For the second in our mini interviews with the artists featured on our latest release, East Project Friends Vol.4, we catch up with regular EP favourite and top producer from Germany, Lennart Richter!!

Please introduce yourself...

I'm Lennart Richter, Producer, DJ/Live act from Berlin. I mostly play and produce House & Nu Disco, but am occassionaly swayed to venture into unknown territories.

Describe your release on Friends Vol.4 in 5 words...

I'd like to answer this one with a quote - "Brazilian Ass Shaker right here"

What else do you have coming up, that we should look out for (DJ gigs or new releases)?

Upcoming releases are the "Steglitz Boyz" EP I did with Shed Eeran on GUN PWDR, the "Bad Decisions" EP ft Kye Munroe on Springbok Records as well as a Compilation Track called "Acid Makes Me Move" featuring Leah Ashurst on Blue Dye next Month, soon follow should "I'm Slick" EP on East Project.

Still a lot of tracks in limbo with no release dates set yet so stay tuned.

Finally, if you had been selected for the Olympics, in which sport would you like to have performed?

Golf, definately. Sadly Martin Kaymer only did 15th or so, I woulda done better. Period. Haha

EP Friends Vol4... Introducing Mike McFly!

Having taken a couple of months off to enjoy the summer, East Project are back with Volume 4 of their ever popular 'East Project Friends' series!  The release features 5 tracks from old and new EP artists, that perfectly capture the long hot sunny days and cool evenings we have witnessed, with a blend of NuDisco and house gems.

Please introduce yourself...

Hi guys, I am Mike McFly, a Dutch producer based in Alicante, Spain. I have been producing for a while now, venturing in French House for a while before switching to this genre, which is I guess Tech House / UK House? I have had a couple of releases that have been well received and I am now building on that momentum. Or at least I am trying too!

Describe your release on Friends Vol.4 in 5 words...

Bass heavy 7th chord stomper!

What else do you have coming up, that we should look out for (DJ gigs or new releases)?

I've got some free tracks coming out soon, so follow me on Soundcloud @itsmikemcfly! And I've got two EP's in the works, that have attracted interest from some respected labels, but I can't tell you much about at this point. Sorry :(

Finally, if you had been selected for the Olympics, in which sport would you like to have performed?

It would have been speedwalking. I love how silly that sh*t looks.

EP FREE... Introducing WELLS!!

For the next instalment of the EP FREE series, we have the excellent Dutch DJ/Producer Wells, with his rework of the classic Salt N Pepa track - Shoop!

Please introduce yourself:

My name is Wells (25), I’m from Amsterdam, Netherlands & I make House music.

How would you describe your production style?

I would describe it as quick & effective. I want to work fast on my projects, because if it takes too long I’ll eventually get bored of it. So I want to get the best result, the quickest way possible.

What works for me is that, because I’m not getting into the details (spending weeks just on automation, for example) of a track, I’ll get a more oldskool vibe. The ideas are simple, but hopefully work & funky as hell (haha).

And how does that compare to what you play when you DJ?

It’s probably kind of the same. I’m actually DJ’ing from when I was about 11 (under other names obviously), so I’ve learned to mix quickly through out the years. I’m leaning more towards a Hip-Hop style of DJ’ing than House, but I actually want to mix House the same way I mix Hip-Hop tunes. Does that makes any sense? Well, for me it does!

What your inspiration behind your remix of Salt N Pepa?

The Deadpool Movie released earlier this year. I was in the cinema when I heard that tune & I was really triggered by the drums. When I came home, I just made a quick edit on Ableton by increasing the BPM and it already sounded great. Afterwards, I spend a day or two by adding different drum samples, chopping up the vocal, create a baseline for it and voila!

What do you have coming up we should be looking out for?

I’ve got a track coming out on the 5th of September called ’Timpani’. This will be released on Gum Pop Records. I’ll probably release more on this label in the near future.

I’m also working on a Chemical Brothers remake with Donagrandi, which you will hear from soon.

In 2017 I’ll probably DJ as Wells on events hosted by Girls Love DJs (and for other organizations), but until then you got to do it with my upcoming releases.

INTERVIEW:

Tell us how you got involved with East Project?

I got involved with East Project a few years ago when the boys from Rough Cut invited me through their Soundcloud page to do a collab, and later, we started speaking more frequently until the present day.

What has been your favourite release to date on the label?

I really love the Friend's VA, 1, 2 and 3, 'cause each one has a variety of sounds and genres that makes you listen from the beginning till the end, with some cool surprises!

What are you up to at the moment?

I'm working on new tracks, tech house, searching the mix of the brazilian grooves with the original tech house genre.  My live sets are made in this way, a couple of my own tracks and tracks from my friends are also included - all in the tech house and brazilian grooves.

Any artists who we should be looking out for in 2016?

Yeah, sure!  I have some names that I like their sounds: Felipe Sosa (BR), Liquefied (BR), Dantee (BR), Veltk (BR).

If you could pick one artist current or past to collab with, who would it be and why?

Yes…  I liked the remix from Matteo Rosolare & Jojo Angel to Elijah Collins, so them.  And I would also like to collab with Quintem909, Felipe Santini, one more with Rough Cut and Donagrandi too.

Donagrandi back in the UK - Sat 27th Feb @ H&G!!

How was your New Years Eve, what did you guys get up to?

We bought in the new yr partying with our close friends and family.

What is the music scene like in Sydney?

The music scene in Sydney is growing out of the electro scene (Thank Fuck) and growing fast with house, trap and chill wave. We just need a bigger G-House community :)

What hopes, dreams and targets have you got for 2016, musically or otherwise?

2016 we would love to tour somewhere we have not travelled before i.e Europe or South America would be dope.

Have you set any New Year’s Resolutions?

Yes, We would like to collab with more artists and do more travelling.
