For our next East Project event, we decided it was time to finally showcase our love of all things disco, funk and NuDisco. Although we are predominantly known for house music, since starting our parties, these sounds have definitely influenced us and crept into a number of the warm sets by our residents over the years.
As ever, an East Project party would not be complete without the help of a top notch guest DJ and for this "Ghetto Disco" night at Vibe Bar, we definitely have a special treat in store for our loyal followers!

How long have you been DJ'ing and what inspired you to DJ and produce?
DJ about 25 years...late 80's until now 2014. Like a lot of
people I was young, at college, couldn't stand the music being played. Got
together with Simon Faze Action, Pete Herbert and we put on club nights. Was
the start of the whole clubbing phenomenon so really exciting days but never
thought i would end up doing it so long!
Producing came from an interest in technology combined with
performing live, playing instruments. Again i started quite young but it wasn't
until say early 2000 when computers really became affordable and more software
was available that i really stepped it up and focused more on production.
What's your favourite disco track of all time?
Really tough as there are 100's literally 1000's to chose
from but i think everyone including house heads should follow the trail
backwards. It starts with Philadelphia disco... Gamble & Huff... so probably
Loleatta Holloway 'Love Sensation' or Harold Melvin 'The Lost I Love' - Something with love in the title!
From Reckless Records... We were all mad for the Jerky Boys.
Part comes from my surname WilliYam then in the Jerky Boys one of the prank
phone calls involved a knock knock prank on a Chinese dentist called Nam Hu.
Sorry bit of long story! The name stuck when everyone started calling me Yam
Who?
Where was the best set you've ever played?
Pretty much every weekend as I play sets as if they're my
last but memorable ones would have to include : Garden Festival, Croatia &
Big Chill Festival
Who's your favourite DJ or producer of all time?
Wow, another biggie! DJ's for me is not only about the
selection of music but personalties as obviously that is part of the magic - Danny Krivit is special... Producer wise Bob Power for the
now but definitely Quincy Jones for all time greats
Disco really has stood the test of time - Why do you think
it has?
It's the greatest hands down. Unites the dance floor, all
creeds etc and is performed by people who can play instruments. People should
read up on it, it came from a historical time & place, hence its standing
legacy!
