What's HOT in June?!

As we say goodby to an always hectic May, due to the 2 bank holiday weekends, we welcome in June and know that summer is definitely round the corner...  With the warm days and brighter evening causing us to spend our time drinking on an outdoor terrace or by the bank's of the Thames, so the party scene also shifts, with our attention focused on the up and coming festivals and variety of daytime events (we even just had our own at Cargo)!

With all this in mind, what are our picks for the HOT nights that you should be at in June!?!?

East Project Episode 10 Feat. Flutters... Interview & Podcast!

After the success of Episode No.9 we thought what better way to follow that up, than by inviting a couple of talented Spanish DJs/Producers, who decided to join forces as Flutters and share their love of deep house music!?

It’s normally in places such as the W Hotel Barcelona or Bfor Ibiza where you can catch Jose Franco and Mauro B performing their their unique style of house, so we are grateful that they took the time out to put this mix together for us...

Turn it up and enjoy!!

Interview:

So guys, I know you both dj individually but how did the Flutters idea come together?

We have always coincided in the same taste of music, so one day we were out partying and we started thinking about names for a group....  after the third drink it came to us... Flutters!!  haha

How does your production process work?  Do you spend time in the studio together or collaborate whilst in your own studios?

We both have our own studio, but we try to work together in all the possible ways because we live in different cities.  We also make masters for other artists.

How would you describe your sound?

Deep & Indie

Where and when was your best clubbing experience?

Last summer on a boat in Ibiza and every Friday on the 26th floor in the W Hotel Barcelona, which is a unique experience!!

What are your plans with the summer coming up?

This summer we are releasing two original tracks for Karera in Germany and for the label Adult Music of Ibiza.  Remixes for Pacha Recordings and Beachside Records from Miami.  Finally we will be playing in the best beach club in Barcelona and in Bfor Ibiza.

Last Question…  Barcelona or Real Madrid?

We haven't got much time for football, but we love for Barça to win.

Influences... Armand Van Helden!

"As one in the steady progression of top in-house producers for Strictly Rhythm during the early '90s, Van Helden joined such names as Todd Terry, Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Masters at Work and George Morel to record scores of club hits. By the late '90s, a clutch of crucial remixes and several albums made Van Helden's name as one of the most popular producers around."

AVH has also been cited as one of the creators of speed garage with his remixes of sugar is sweeter and spin spin sugar.  He loves a mean bassline and that pretty much sums me up too - therefore, in my eyes... he's the man!

The great thing about him is he seems to be able to produce some real filthy tunes but at the same time appeal to the commercial market, meaning he has had numerous number 1's - but you wouldn't be worried about dropping them in the club now, a real talent and legend.

"You don't know me", was one of my first ever vinyl collection when I started messing around on the decks back in 1998.  It has stood the test of time to this day, as it still emotes a strong reaction whenever it is played out - an utter killer track!

Some of my favourite tracks:

My best memory of AVH was at Koko in 2007 - he had been playing a real classics set and everyone in the place was just waiting for one song - "Sugar is sweeter". It was nearly time for him to finish his set... then we heard its distinctive beat come in...  which he then seemed to repeat the already long breakdown for about 5 minutes... building and building... until finally when he let it drop, the place erupted with the bass-line shaking Koko to its foundations!  Was one of my best clubbing moments of all time for sure!!

Armand Van Helden...  I salute you!!

If you are in the mood to get your NuDisco shoes on and you would rather avoid the crowds that follow the big festival style line-ups, then you could do a lot worse that head down to Dalston on Saturday 24th May.  The excellent Might Mouse duo are taking control of the decks at the just as good, Nest venue!
